eBay..Apple iPad Successful eBay business Concept?
Hi Ed WeBBers,
NOW i`m sure you`ve heard of iPad and how I believe Apple’s strategy is playing out…
Now,you could potentially make some serious profits by selling items similar to the iPad over the coming months…
You see, Apple are basically becoming a bit of a ‘middle-man’ – they are creating devices (although I don’t think they are ‘real’ manufacturers -some other company is probably doing that for them) and then selling downloads, subscriptions etc. – stuff which they don’t actually own, but which they will get paid for.
Essentially, they are becoming glorified middle-men (like eBay!) which is one of
the best positions in business to be in.
Ed….bet the men on the left and right are cheesed off?
No…Doris, they`re on commission, with free pens stolen from Argos!
On we go…
And that brings me to my favourite all-time business quote:
“The art of good business is being a good middleman”
I heard Aristotle Onassis said that, but I’m not sure.
Anyway – it’s very true, and it’s what Apple is starting to become…a very powerful middle-man (just as eBay is a pure middle-man – hooking up sellers of products with buyers, owning, shipping and stocking nothing, and yet making billions).
So, what’s the point I’m trying to make…?
Well, just as eBay is a ‘middle-man’, so can you be – but there’s only a very small number of ways to do that on eBay…
One such way is drop-shipping.
You stock nothing, hold nothing in inventory, ship nothing and don’t lay out any cashola!
You list items for sale – and then when something sells, you get the manufacturer to ship it out for you.
BUT – there’s a catch…
There aren’t many markets you can do this with on eBay.
In fact, AMAZON is probably a better place to do drop-shipping.
Why?
Well, one of the primary reasons is because on Amazon there are NO LISTING FEES.
You don’t pay to list an item – you only pay when it sells.
That means you can list hundreds of items for no money down, and then only pay when something sells.
If you’re seriously considering drop-shipping as a business model, then I’d certainly consider investigating Amazon as a potential stomping ground!
In fact, I’d encourage you to start there first if you want to be a drop-shipper – there’s less competition than on eBay in plenty of categories and (as I mentioned) no listing fees either.
Drop-shipping isn’t the be-all-and-end-all,but it’s something that you may want to look
at if you’re just starting out…and I just told you possibly the best place to start.
Another good place to start is with my head stuffed in a book?
WHAT? IT`S A BESTSELLER !
