eBay..Entrepenaurial Challenge?
Hi Ed WeBBers,
It appears that eBay (the USA site – that’s eBay.com) are running a new ‘entrepreneurial challenge’.
Basically YOU (the seller) lay out your top plans for growing your business.
The person with the best ‘plan’ and the like, gets $25,000. Not bad at all.
I’ve logged on and taken a look myself, purely to see what it’s all about.
sellerschallenge.eBay.com
On that mini-site, I noticed that eBay themselves had put together a ‘Top 10 Growth
Strategies’ page.
Eager to know what they’d come up with, I clicked through.
But all I got was a list of the most basic stuff – for example one of their ‘Top 10′
is ‘Do Your Research’.
Another is ‘Open A Store’
Great. Thanks for those!
So, here are my top 10 ‘growth’ strategies:
1. Post an item out when it sells.
2. Be sure to sell an item for MORE than
you pay for it.
3. Sell products that people actually want.
4. Answer questions (some of them anyway).
5. Use the correct postage when you post
‘stuff’ out (bit like number 1.)
6. I can’t think of anything else.
Ok, I only made it to 6, but there we go.
Seriously though…eBay are to be ‘applauded’ for at least encouraging some kind of
entrepreneurship (even it it is to grow their own business!).
But I have another point to make here…
“Oh ….Ed, its getting boring now!”
“Shut it …Doris, and carry on ironing me v-neck bed socks”!
NOW, WHERE WHERE I AH YES!
There are a couple of ‘interesting’ case studies on there from eBay.com sellers – one for example from a young woman selling equine accessories(and plenty of them).
And here’s the interesting thing…
You can often ‘steal’ ideas like this from other country eBay sites – I’m not necessarily talking about product ideas (although you can do that
too), but flat-out businesses.
Now, I’m sure there are sellers in the UK selling equine accessories already…but there may be smaller niche markets/businesses which you can copy and steal from.
You can go to the eBay Australia site, or eBay.com (the American site) and find them.
Copy what they do, bring the idea here to the UK -
and you’re off to the races.
It’s one of the best ways to get started on eBay, and it has a higher chance of success
than simply ‘guessing’ what’s going to sell.
So, what are you waiting for?
Blimey , it`s Stuntman time what am I thinking,
“Peeps this are getting dangerous, I am going to attempt holding my breath in a chest freezer for a week whislt watching re-runs coronation st wearing nothing but my memories”!
HONEST!
Don`t miss the next exciting episode from my files when i`ll be looking at some more copywriting tips , so you will be able to sell speed cameras to a tortoise !
But for now you wonderful peeps you its TTFN….Ed.

MY Ed WeBBers ARE PRICELESS!
