eBay…Listing Times, Official Sandwiches LIVE?
Hi Ed WeBBers,
We all like a sandwich or as we say in good ole blighty “A BUTTY”..
NOW every town as at least one butty shop..
and now and then i frequent one around midday.
As you’d expect.
After all, this is when most of the ‘trade’ of a sandwich shop will occur.
I’d imagine they are reasonably busy in the morning, packed out at lunch, then quiet in the afternoon.
And then they close.
Ed….I wonder when the shop closes, all the sandwiches put on their little hats and coats clock out and go home ?
Doris…Of course they do they all live in high rise hampers , and at the weekends they go to the club, these are club sandwiche members!
YOU HAVE TO HUMOUR HER?
NOW…… you may have worked out where I’m going with this (or not)…
Basically, the ‘butty’ shop explodes in activity at certain times of the day – and tails off markedly at others.
You don’t have to be a genius to work out that if they were ‘closed’ at lunch-time each day, then they wouldn’t make very much mone-e…
You can probably see the eBay implications of this too…
You see, whilst the ‘sales explosion’ times may not be as distinct and as powerful as those of the average sandwich-making establishment, there ARE certain ‘sales
explosion’ type times on eBay too…
They may differ by product, but they are very often around about the same for most things.
Yes, I’m talking about the TIMES you list your products.
How do you find out the best times to list things?
By simply knowing who you’re selling to…
If you’re selling to 9-5er’s (which most of us are) then you’re best off listing your items so they finish in the evening.
If you’re selling to ‘new mothers’ then your listing times may be different. You may find early mornings do better, for example.
If your product is ideal for ‘shift’ workers, then you may find you can adjust your times yet again to make more sales…
I can’t tell you exactly what times you will see ‘sales explosions’ for your individual products – but I can say that in most cases, certain times will be better than others.
It’s worth testing to find out which will cause a sales explosion (and listing more at those times) and seeing which cause a sales shrinkage too…
And it all starts by coming back to this question:
“Who exactly am I selling this product to?”
Once you’ve answered that question, not only will you have a better idea of the times to list, you’ll have a better idea on a lot of other ‘things’ to do with listing your product optimally too.
DUN DUN DAH..Stuntman time ..
“After running across one hundred yards of concrete covered in broken glass bare footed without even a scratch i have too then assault a fifty foot wall climbing amongst highly venomous snakes, wearing nothing but my memories, reaching the top i will back summersault three times landing on a football and balance perfectly still”!
A DODDLE…ERR?
WEY HEY.. don`t miss my next balancing act on this journal of my very web being, when i will be looking at some great software that employs a cyber sales person to stop visitors leaving your website and turn them into *BUYERS* all done in my fave way on*AUTOPILOT*!!
BUT, until then my Romans, Countryman and Peeps SOD the ears lend me your thoughts…TTFN….Ed.

MY Ed WeBBers ARE PRICELESS!

Interesting Ed. I’m not using eBay yet, but can see how timings may be important. I’m probably too lazy however to do anything – I would be happy at the moment just to get one sale.
Keep up the good work.
John
Hi Ed,
Educating and humorous as always! There are so many things to understand about eBay but knowing when you get the best return on your ad is ultimately important. I’ve always believed that it is all about the “timing” in life…being in the right place at the right time!
Tell Doris she to check up on those sandwiches…at the club that is..;)
Thanks Ed for great info…
Kathy
Hi John,
I think the eBay part of the course is going to be the most slow at forthcoming?
TTFN….Ed.
Hi Kathy,
Basicially you need to tap into the right times when the buyers in your market/s are available to *BUY*?
I think Doris is two sandwiches short of a picnic!

Hi Ed,
Great analogy
and so True!!
I have sold on ebay on and off for the last 4 years but never thought of the concept of looking at who my target market is and what their hours are. Thank you for the “Aahaa” moment! Now I understand why some things sold well and others didn’t!
Yes on the mums times, but avo is another good time as bubba often has a nap. and school times too.
Thank you for the insight. I plan on getting back into ebay selling when I have finished JT’s course. I will keep the time info in mind!
Hope all is great.
Jacinta
Hi Jacinta,
Thanks for the comment , to be honest it still can take some trial and error but it is a guaranteed formula!
TTFN….Ed.
Hi Ed,
I totally agree about the timing. I am just trying the 10 day listing to see what effect it has, as I’m in a niche market I have ittle competition but time will tell.
Enjoy the journey.
Mandy
Hi Mandy,
Its common sense really just test the best times for your own products?
