eBay..”Fat Pets” Doris and Fauntleroy the Chihuahua?

I caught the end of a ‘remarkable’TV program the other day.
Perhaps you saw it.
It was/is called ‘Fat Pets’.
No…that’s not a joke. Such a program really does exist.
Amongst the ‘stars’ featured in the last episode was Richard the Rottweiler (I can’t
rememeber his real name…something like that?
Ed….not only is your memory bad but, who in their right mind would call their dog Richard?
Doris… you`d be surprized i knew a local nightclub doorman who called his pet chihuahua fauntleroy “The Hatchet” Smith!!
(Don`t think the knuckle dusters go with the diamond collar though)!!
ANYWAY..back to Richard
Richard, enjoys ‘Greggs’ sausage rolls…amongst other (plenty of ‘other’!) things.
Problem: he’s eaten so much of the stuff that his damn hind legs are buckling under his (extremely) sizeable bulk.
His damn knees are giving way for Pete’s sake!
And you thought fat was a term only used in human form.
Welcome to the World of ‘fat pets’.
Is this the ultimate indictment of our lazy,unhealthy and obese culture…that now even our pets are being ravaged by their own
bulk?
These animals don’t walk; they waddle.
Anyway – I have a point here to make… basically, well, PETS!
Did you ever think about that as a market to sell into on eBay?
Well, believe it or not, it’s a HUGE market.
In fact, I just checked and noticed there are OVER 150,000 items currently for sale in this market – it’s big and it won’t be
going anywhere soon.
As you probably know, I don’t usually mention specific markets – however, when I saw ‘fat pets’ the other day,
I thought I’d make the exception.
Of course, I’m not saying you need to sell a ‘diet for pets’ (probably not a bad idea actually!) – but there are tons of products
and sub-markets within this niche that I’m sure could help kick-off your own profitable eBay enterprise.
Whether that’s controlling pet hair (I’ve just seen an item on this them that’s selling very well)…
….training your pet, or just providing for them – then this market is one which few people think about to sell into, but which
many people buy from.
Could it be something for you to think about too?

Hi Ed,
I absolutely agree with you, we are all crazy about our pets and it probably is a great area to get into. As you know I have just been down to Wales and the project leader also does dog training. We had a great session over 2 days with our little dog and if you’ve ever seen Caesar Millan from the USA, well Helen Wingstedt is our equivalent! She’s considering creaitng some training dvd’s or a membership site to access them and I think they’ll be really popular.

Thanks for your comment, I have noticed how big the pet market is in general, it is huge which is a good thing, it shows more and more pople are taking responsibiliy for their pets!
