eBay..Powerful Sales Techniques Part 1!
Hi Ed WeBBers,
If you take note of ‘sales letters’ and a lot of the ‘letters’ you find posted on the Web today, then you’ll probably recognise them as being in ‘long copy’ format…
You probably know what I mean; there’s usually quite a brash headline and then spades and spades worth of ‘description’- explaining and giving every last reason why you should purchase whatever the product is…
The stuff goes on forever…reams and reams of the stuff explaining how great the product on offer really is!
Whatever you might think of this approach to ‘describing’ products, one thing is for sure -
it works!
“Ed….do you mean i should copy someones body” ?
“Doris…NO COMMENT, but then again you could copy one if you want , go and electrocute yourself then afterwards go and sit in the nearest field , and people might just mistake you for a fallen body particle of a meteorite”!
SORRY EVERYONE!
SO onwards, how do I know this method works ? Simply because these advertisers – the ones who use this approach – keep doing it.
They wouldn’t keep spending the money on advertising if it wasn’t paying out.
But, does this kind of approach work on eBay?
Does the ‘long-copy-brash-headline’ work on the site…or not?
In my experience, yes, it DOES.
(Ultimately, eBay is just a ‘medium’, with the same people buying as through other media – so it works on here just as it does in catalogs, Google, or tons of other places).
….yet few eBayers ever concentrate on this ‘long copy’ style.
Why is that?
I reckon I know why.
It’s because most eBayers are quite TECHNICAL in background. They are collectors, car booters and people who have been in the ‘resale/trading’ bizfor most of their lives.
But…they are NOT marketers or marketing experts, or (in particular) COPYWRITERS.
As such…their descriptions often end up weaker than they could and perhaps should be, POWERFUL food for thought!
AHH, time to relax as good ole JT would say after a good session on internet marketing, and my choice for this pleasant endeavour is with a book..

So me stalkers …next post, I’ll be looking at some things YOU might be able to do to ‘set your body copy straight’ – so you too can start seeing increased results that are inevitable once you ‘power up’ your descriptions.
Until then my adoring sea of peeps its….TTFN….Ed.
