eBay..Sell Low,lose High..Doris and the Afro Wig?
Hi Ed WeBBers,
Lets use a car sale as to why it`s not always logical to sell”CHEAP”on eBay.
Here’s my hypothetical point!
YOU are selling your car, and it’s still not sold I would put it down to a depressed market rather than sales skills..
BUT there’s something to notice?
If you try and drop the price for a car, then although your sales increase, your quality of potential ‘buyers’ doesn’t increase – and everyone starts asking all sorts of questions.
Let me explain…
Let’s say you are selling a ‘Ford Focus’.usual price is £5K for this model.
But you’ve tried selling it at 5K, and for some reason, there aren’t any takers at the moment. the market just seems depressed?
Ed….why doesn’t` the seller just give the market an anti-depression pill?
Doris… You had Botox but you wear a ski mask, what’s the point..
Not sure about the afro wig though?
Anyway, back to the script!
So you try selling it for £3K – an extreme drop, admittedly, but you want to see the back of this damn Focus.
But, as the calls come in you realise something -everyone is worried that there’s something wrong’ with the car – it’s either a proverbial turkey’ or some sort of ‘scamola’.
So they don’t buy.
UNLESS – unless you’ve got a ‘valid reason’ for the price drop maybe just an explanation that the market for this car is depressed right with just a’valid reason’ why the item is so cheap…
I’m sure you can see where I’m going with this..
Having a ‘valid reason’ for ANY cheap and really cheap item is an important part of selling!
Again lets give another hypothetical scenario..
A buyer looking on eBay for something in particular and finds a good match but couldn’t`t work out why it was so cheap. Fake? Used?
WHAT,was it?
This buyer knew the average market price was higher..
THE POINT, the seller gave no explanation as to it`s cheapness ,in turn lost the sale!
Have something really cheap?
Then without a ‘valid reason’ for selling it at that price, your results will be found wanting, and you’ll get all sorts of ‘suspicious’ buyers coming out of the woodwork.
So – now you know what to do the next time you’re flogging that really cheap
Ford Focus – or whatever else you’ve got at a hefty discount…
Just make sure you’ve got your own ‘valid reason’ for its apparent cheapness.
Because by outlining the ‘valid reason’ and explaining it, you’ll definitely boost your sales results with little extra effort expended..
Talking about a little effort ,time to relax with my book..

WEY HEY, the medication ain`t making it but then i wouldn’t`be….Ed,would i now? join me next episode when i will jump out of the eBay box ,to bring to you a really cool product by a really good eBay powerseller and friend who has put on paper and video exactly what you should be doing on eBay to profit the way my eBay friend does ?
BUT, for now Ed WeBBers, i shake off this insane mental coil and retire to my imagination TTFN….Ed.

MY Ed WeBBers ARE PRICELESS!

You’ve made a very valid point there, Ed. Thanks for that.
Enjoy the journey.
Mandy.
Hi Mandy,
Thanks for stopping by,to me thats the essensse of selling even though certain aspects need testing, this issue is always a dead cert!
TTFN….Ed.
That’s an excellent point about selling cheap Ed. I was just thinking about reducing some prices on old products, and will now make sure I have a convincing reason for the low price. I certainly don’t want any hassle from people who don’t believe it could be so cheap!
John
Hi John,
YEH,the thing is this way your honesty and reason why grabs the sale more than the product itsself in some cases!
Cheers John….Ed.
