Google adWords keyword Success,Doris and the Punctured Tyre Ad?

Hi Ed Webbers,

People look on Google adWords as a minefield to success, but like anything else when you know how to steer through them you  have a clear path to SUCCESS in your advertising campaigns!

Lets look at a cog in the advertising wheel of Google adWords “KEYWORDS”

Ed….why would Google need to advertise on a wheel , i mean who can possibly read an advert on a wheel turnin at 50 mph?

Doris…Google only use wheels with punctured tyres , bad advertising for Pireilli great for you on the motorway!

She has a point…ahem?

Now then..here we go..

Lets say you have researched Google on the following market “dog training “and found that dog training is a massive lucrative market however due to the sheer amount of competing websites it is far too saturated a market for that keyword to compete in with a relevant product you have in mind because the cost for that keyword would be far too expensive..

So what do you do?

Using this  keyword tool  http://tinyurl.com/keywordspyed it`s a paid for service  but there is a  FREE trial version to see if you like it BUT i know you will.,,

TRUST the Ed..

This service will tell you the best most converting keywords for your successful competitors in any market for your product, you simply type in a keyword and it will then give you a list of close reletive keywords that they bid on giving them SUCCESS in their campaigns ,the ground is broken the research is done by them!

After aquiring “keyword Spy” you would type lets say for our example your product “dog training collar” in Google and choose 3 or 4 of the top ranking websites in that niche market copy and paste the URLS into notepad..

These are known as “long tail keywords”, in other words you look for a niche, a smaller more targeted market within the “dog training” market that is far less competitive and cheaper on keyword bids in Google and *HOT* in it`s own right..

We know its a *HOT* market because its within one of the biggest most lucrative marketplaces on the net “dog training”!

Choose one of the websites you saved in note pad go to keyword spy click the keyword research tab enter the URL in the search bar you will then get the top 10 results of keywords your highly successful competitors are using in their ad campaign and to the right it even tells you their positions in ranking..

Obviously the higher the better ,so you pick say 5 of the highest ranked “long tailed keywords” from this data and this is where you beat your competition at their own game

BY…

Using EACH  keyword phrase for its own adWords ad , so thats 5 adWords ad campaigns each one lazer targeted to the audience that wants a “dog training collar”, then converting to more sales, your competitor had all these  keywords in 1 adWords ad campaign making him or her money BUT leaving some on the table and paying Google more for it!

this is how you place your chosen keyword phrase in your ad campaign, this for example would be 1 of the 5 of the chosen SUCCESSFUL phrases .

dog training collar
“dog training collar”
[dog training collar]

the first is broad match brings in masses of traffic BUT not all buyers
The second is for people who will type this phrase into Googles search bar BUT could also use other words before or after the phrase again not all buyers..
The third is exact match meaning this is exactly what the searcher has typed into the Google search bar AND are most likely *BUYERS*!

So how do we combat non-buyers?

These are people who are looking for freebies or just info they are NOT PROFITABLE , so we use what is called “negative keywords” we place these in the adWords campaign like  the words…

info..
free

This is for people who may type these words before or after dog training collar, which means your ad will not show on this result and in turn will not cost you money on wasted clicks!

All you need to do now is ascertain your budget what your willing to spend per day and week on the ad campaigns by using Googles key tool to determing cost per click(CPC) and if you are happy with the results for each keyword phrase then WAH-LA away you go!

Sometime in the near future we will look at how to improve your clickthrough rate with the structure of your Ad itself…do look out for that?

But for now peeps, tis time for my book , ahh yes..

  1. Ed, that was a very informative post about Google Adwords. I haven’t yet been daring enough to tackle using paid for advertising because I don’t feel knowledgeable enough about it.
I will go over and check keywordspy and see if it something for me right now.
    Thanks for the great info.
