Google adWords..Landing Page Three Key Element SUCCESS?

Do you ever find yourself wondering,   "What’s wrong with my landing page?"

That is if you use Google adWords, or basically any search engine providing PPC?

Generally, landing pages that don’t convert visitors to leads and sales suffer from just a few common mistakes.and within this content i want to point out three chief culprits?

Don`t like the sound of that….Ed. i mean three Indian chiefs called culprits are they triplets?

NO…Doris its a term of phrase, next you will think sherlock holmes is a block of flats, OR that a builders donkey jacket really is made out of a donkeys hide with initials tattooed on JCB !

AHH WELL..where was i…

Here we go!

Landing Page No-No #1: No clear MDA

As in "Most Desired Action."

Every landing page must be designed to accomplish one primary task. Not two. Not six. Just one.

But what should that one MDA be? To answer that, you must build a bridge from your visitor to the ultimate conversion and decide what’s possible in a brief, first encounter.

Start with your visitor. Answer the following questions:

1. What is their itch/pain/problem/desire?

2. What do they want/expect from you?

3. What’s the most risk they’re willing to take in this first encounter?

Then craft an offer, and a clear call to action that moves them from stone-cold stranger to somewhere that makes sense along the sales process.

If you’re selling paper clips, you can probably ask for the sale.

If you’re selling industrial widgets, you probably won’t close the deal on that first visit. In that case, can you generate an RFQ? Or is that too much? Maybe you need to provide a white paper with a solution to a problem they’re having before they trust you enough to tell you anything about their needs.

Landing Page No-No #2: No Perceived Choice

Focusing on one MDA doesn’t mean you need to create a "squeeze page" that gives no options other than the MDA.

Meditation experts teach, "The mind is always looking for an exit strategy." I have no idea what that means regarding meditation, but it’s certainly true of your landing page.

And remember, the default exit strategy is always the back button – right back to Google for another search.

Your landing page may need a supporting cast of other options – available, even if they don’t get clicked. Links to articles show you’re a thought leader. Links to other services show you’re well-rounded. A clickable image that touts your website as Carbon-Neutral may not get clicked through to the certifying body, but makes environmentally conscious visitors like you better.

The more things someone clicks on your site, the more little "yeses" they’re saying. So as long as the front end of your site all leads to the MDA in one way or another, don’t be afraid to provide choice to your visitors.

Landing Page No-No #3: No Instant Orientation

The visitor to your landing page wants to know: "Is this site going to get me to my goal?" They’re not willing to spend 5 minutes to find out.

What did you promise in your ad? Whatever it was, are you clearly showing your visitor that they’re in the right place to get it? Just like a bloodhound, your visitor from a search is on a mission. And both the visitor and the bloodhound are willing to follow the trail as long as they can still smell it.

As you can see these are very powerful points to note on improving your landing page, if you can recall my previous post on the sales path from the correct keywords through to the correct formatting of the ad and as mentioned in this report finally the landing page..

Ultimately, these three key elements when used as part of your landing page formula WILL convert leads to sales :-) !

But peeps its time for my key element to relaxation tis a book..

  1. Hi Ed,

Great tips on landing page success. It’s amazing how many sales pages I have read that have no real direction or purpose.

You are absolutely right in what you say, the reader must be absorbed and know straight away where this is going to take them and what this is going to do for them.

    Thanks for sharing!

    All the best!
